Damnation Books is a new ebook company dedicated to dark fiction. Horror, dark fantasy, paranormals, thrillers, science fiction and erotica. The company was started by Kim Richards and her husband. Both of them have a love for the dark and fantastical genres. Kim is an author and has been working with an ebook publisher for over two years, first as an editor and then as marketing manager. She has a degree in business and some journalism under her belt. Her husband is the technical half of this company. So why ebooks and why now? There is a real need for an ebook specialist in dark fiction. Most of the ebook houses at this time only carry a few titles which are quickly buried beneath the romance they showcase. Lovers of the dark are assumed to want to lurk in the shadows of these places. We seek to bring them out into the moonlight. At the same time, many short fiction markets are drying up with many magazines folding. Ebooks and short fiction work well together. We plan to release short stories, novellas and full length novels. Ebooks are green (duh) and much more affordable than paper books. A reader never has to pay shipping or waste gasoline on a trip to the store. This, combined with lower book costs overall and ebooks make sense in today's economy. Of course, they'll never replace paper books. They offer an alternative for today's world. Damnation Books is anticipating a September 2009 launch with twenty-five titles. After that, we plan to release twelve titles every three months. Book prices range from $2.50 to $5.95 at this time. However we will be offering a new approach to downloading books. There will be more information on that closer to September. We have three editors on board to fine tune our selections. Come on... give us at least one contracted name... please... make us want your books!  I'll be keeping my eyes peeled (ouch) for your announcements. Hmm, I guess an e-reader may be in my future... but I still love my hardcovers. When the Kindles are $20, or you get your first 300 books free, I'll get one! |
