Back when rock n' roll had huge balls. Real bands came to your town and played loud enough to make fillings fly out of your mouth. Also a time when that Justin Weiner kid would have been thrown in jail for noise pollution.

Old Aerosmith! (Rocks). Stone Temple Pilots-second self-titled release.

(I saw Aerosmith way back on their Done With Mirrors tour. Before CD's were invented. Man, did I see a lot of people puke at that show).

Areosmith was based out of New Hampshire and I used to see them all the time before they hit it big. They used to play a lot of gay and lesbian venues and Tyler would always be masturbating with his harmonica on stage. The whole act was to see if he could come before the end of the show. Once they hit with Dream On that shit went away and it was remarkable the change in the shows. In the beginning I would see them and think that me and my friends were the only straight people in the venue, after they hit it big they started playing halls and lost the gay audience. I remember seeing them one time in the beginning and only about 10 people showed up.

Yesterday's writing music was the new Company of Thieves album, RUNNING FROM A GAMBLE. It's quite good. (I saw them live with The Hold Steady back in November. Great show in a tiny bar toward the end of the tour, probably the smallest venue THS has played or will play in a long while!)

I saw a Bad Company concert last night on VH1 that was killer. I saw that band back in the day with Deep Purple. One of the best opening acts I've ever seen.

But I'm riding a progessive metal wave today: Dream Theater, Queensryche, and Nevermore.

Damn, I've been a System of A Down fan since before anyone knew who the hell they were.

Great CD, but if you really want to scramble your brain, check out their second album, Toxicity.

I have the Rush Remasters of these on CD, and the sound is amazing. Neil Peart's drums sound like they're about to slap you in the face.

I'll never forget the day I bought Number of The Beast. One of Maiden's best. (Their best is Powerslave: Trust Me.

)

But here's a favorite band I've been blasting the hell out of for the last week:

This album is so heavy, it will kick your balls up into your chest and then laugh at you in front of your girlfriend.
