He Who Increases Knowledge is one of my personal favorites as well and you'll be happy to hear that it will be in the upcoming collection. I also have not forgotten about you winning that contest and I will make sure you get a free copy as soon as it comes out. It's funny that you mentioned Feeding Frenzy because I wrote that one as a gift for a girlfriend who I just could not get enough of. The way we made love made the entire concept of Feeding Frenzy seem possible. And of course Poisoning Eros was the most fun I've ever had writing anything. That was an exercise in absolute freedom, writing without boundaries. I never put many restraints on my work, but that one was really "off the chain" so to speak, both thematically and in the use of imagery.
Thanks for your input. Get me your address and I'll make sure you get the first copy of The Book of a Thousand Sins . Look for it around October-November.
Succulent Prey will be out in July (and I can't fucking wait!)
His Pain the novella from Delirium books will probably not see print until August or September.
and The Book Of A Thousand Sins by Two-Backed Books is tentatively scheduled for Halloween.
Oh, and here's my list of authors you should definitely read:
Ray Garton (One of my favorites right now)
Monica O'Rourke (Besides PE which she co-authored with me, she only has one other novel out but it truly kicks ass. A must-read.)
Ed Lee (He's got too many great stories and novels to name here but there are also one or two duds so choose carefully. His work is more fun and horrific then profound.)
Charlee Jacob (amazingly talented wordsmith and violent as hell.)
Jesus Gonzalez (His latest novel Survivor is recieving a lot of praise right now. It's gory, sexual, and thought-provoking.)
I'm drawing a blank right now on the rest. I'm extremely picky when it comes to what I read, because I have so little time to read. Now, if you're looking for that same mix of social commentary, religion, philosophy, eroticism, violence, and horror that I weave into my work I wouldn't know who to suggest. As far as I know I'm the only one doing that right now. Though I'm sure that will change. Good to hear from you again Erik, Take care.
awesome, thanks. i requested a handful of books through interlibrary loan (amazing what one can find there). i have a feeling i'll be disappointed overall, but we'll see. i requested a tom piccirilli book too--i read one of his poems at chizine once that really impressed me, plus i saw he was in 'red scream' with you.
so 'he who increases knowledge', will that be in 'book of a thousands sins'? halloween would be great timing for a release--my birthday is oct. 31. what a present. ^_^

What is up Wrath.
Sorry for the late reply, I was in Japan on business.
Sad news my house was broken into and I was wiped out. Everything was ensured from my Laptops, to my living arrangements. But what was not insured were my CD’s and my Books. I mean come on who takes books, surely thief’s don’t grab and say, you know something this will be a good read.
So anyway, I order what I could from shocklines, to get my collection upto park. But there are some that I want and I can’t get, so can you help me out, I will pay whatever the cost. I need my City Slab, I love the story “Don’t Scream” and some of your rare work will be appreciated. Like the story from Scared Naked Magazine “Feeding Frenzy.” I can’t find it anywhere, can you help or point me to the right direction.
P.S
What is your email, so I can give you my address.
Zombie. :P

That sucks, man. Sorry to hear about your losses. Unfortunately I don't even have a copy of City Slab magazine, however the upcoming collection will include Don't Scream along with quite a few other lost gems. I'll see what I can piece together in the meantime.

Sorry to here about that. You really must read Charlee Jacob's This Symbiotic Fascination it is anything but ordinary. Also Gerard Hourner's Beast Called Max. Those are two novels that I have nothing but praise for. Ray Garton's stuff is pretty cool as well. The New Neighbor is a true gem. I'm still making my way through the rest of his work but so far he's one of the best. Good Luck!
cool, i'll have to buy those since they aren't at any michigan libraries. 'this symbiotic fascination' is a nice title. i like those 'this etc etc' 3-word phrases. very poetic hehe.
man, i was reading some old tokugawa era ghost stories from japan--those things can get gruesome! this one ghost comes back and possesses a mother then has her bite the limbs and head off a baby; i was amazed. people dying left and right.
Tomi! Now how on earth could I have missed your lovely countenance on my board? Welcome! Who cares about making sense? I agree with your assessment of the writing process. All art should be sensual. It should be something you can see, feel, taste, touch, and smell. Even the rhythm of the words should evoke an emotion beyond the meaning of the words. That's why I always read my work out loud when I am editing it. To see if the flow of the words is congruous with the meaning. Even though we aren't sculpting our art should still be tactile. If I stumble over words when I read it aloud I assume the reader will stumble over them in his/her mind as well. I'm not sure if all t relates to what you were saying but that's my two cents anyway. Do drop by more often. This drab little board is far brighter with your presence on it.
Nope, you're not invisible. But I still didn't answer your question. Am I afraid? All of my fears are reflected in my writings. Chief among these fears is the difficulty of injecting meaning into life if life is without purpose and the horrors that man commits in the name of his lusts, obsessions and religious convictions in an effort to make existence more tolerable. The entire concept of belief without evidence frightens me. I think man's tendency to believe in things that have no empirical evidence to support them simply because he lacks the patience or the tenacity to find true answers, filling in the gaps in his knowledge with fantasy, is the cause of most of the prejudice, intolerance and plain old dangerous stupidity in the world. So much ignorance and hostility can be justified by this "Don't think. Believe!" mentality. None of these fears however are quite as terrifying as the possibility, as infinitely remote as it is, that there could actually be some intelligent design behind all of this madness. The idea that the egocentric, jealous, vengeful, selfish god of most western religions might really be up there wreaking havoc with men's lives for his own self-serving ends is about the most horrifying thing I could imagine.
I've enjoyed all of the "Sins" stories so far. I guess it's the horror, the fear, the sex....all of that combined.
I love the writing the most. I'm far from a writing critic, but your style is not only comfortable, but it's very poetic at time. Just well written. I'm not one who usually gravitates towards short stories, but Sins was on a shelf and a good friend had mentioned your name--so I bought it.
I agree with Bill, about it being very well written and comfortable. Obviously there's the shock aspect which appeals too, lol....but basically (and because I've been dying to use this smilie)...Wrath, you totally ROCK!!!!
Hey Wrath! I just wanted to say I've really enjoyed what I've read of your stories. I'm really not sure why. Generally I have no specific reason why I like a particular author. I have just recently (the last year or so) started getting into some of the small press publishers a bit. I've actively collected predominantly horror books for about a dozen years or so (I've been a fan of the genre as long as I can recall) mostly focusing on Stephen King books and then branching into signed limiteds in the last few years. Anyhow, not so long ago I had the chance to read Population Zero and then just this past week I received a copy of Teratologist and I've become a fan of your writing. I can hardly wait to read more...and add to my ever growing collection. Anyhow, I guess I'm rambling when all I wanted to say is thanks for the stories.
