Hey, Gary! I haven't read MR. HANDS yet, but I was very impressed with the cover. It's an attention grabber. I'm curious to know what YOU think of it? How do you like it compared to other covers you've gotten in the past? What are your favorites? Covers are important, of course, and I enjoy hearing what other writers think of theirs. Any cover horror stories? |

I'm loving the cover of Coffin County! It's eerie and creepy and scary and just plain spooky! |

Ray, my friend -- great to hear from you! I liked the cover for MR. HANDS quite a bit -- it does get your attention, doesn't it? The only complaints I've heard from readers is that, while they understand why that particular image was chosen, they feel it doesn't really reflect the thematic content of the novel. The COFFIN COUNTY cover is hands-down my favorite Leisure cover yet. I especially liked that they chose to change the base color from red to blue, and the gold lettering really sticks out as a result. It's genuinely eerie and evocative, and in this case, I think that the cover image does reflect the thematic concerns of the story. (Isn't it cool that the bodies are just a tad out of focus? I've had a lot of people comment that it took them a minute to figure out what they were looking at, and when they realize what it is -- wham! -- in skulks the creepiness factor.) |

The cover to COFFIN COUNTY is one of my favorites. I'm glad to hear that it accurately reflects the theme of the book. I've got a pretty big to-be-read pile, and the title and cover of this book has just brought it to the front of the list -- as well as the rest of the Cedar Hill novels presuming I love it as much as I did MR HANDS. - Shawn |
