It may be the only Gary Braunbeck I've never cared for. Loved the beginning of Hollow Houses though, then he lost me. I'm not a fan of the genre. Tt |

Finished it a few days ago,,,,while it's not the best of his ive read,,,,i still liked it and look forward to getting the rest of the series,,, what i though was kinda cool was some of the events were kind of like,,,"blueprints" for some moments in the Ceder Hill series,,,,just conversations that sounded the same,,,same type of jokes places here and there,,,,and what seemed to be a prototype for "Thomaldomite Man" |

I kinda hated writing that book -- went through 3 different editors, all of whom had a different take on what they wanted. I basically wrote the book 3 times, and was so sick of it by the end I just threw in everything but the kitchen sink. And yes, the prototype for Thalidomide Man was in the book, as well as a few other events/characters that have since popped up in the cycle. It ain't my favorite book, but I'm not ashamed of it. I think the first third is the best. |
