I’m finally back to the good old USA. Got back just in time for the hurricane but all is well save for tons of rain. The trip was the best yet and so was the convention. The con was held at this 100 year old stadium like thing called Centennial Hall (it was a place Hitler liked to go for walks and , of course, reports of his ghost are more than sparse.) The con ran like clockwork, great organization and guest list, very diverse panels and th weather was PERFECT except for the last day. (Oh, and they must’ve had 40 food vendors there. Believe me, food trucks in Poland are a MILLION TIMES better than here!) My good pal Mike Ling was in attendance; he directed the Bighead Teaser, which was shown during the con and well received. Not so well received was the movie that followed, THE WALKING WOMAN by yours truly. Within the first 30 seconds, after the alien-black-slop-falls-from-vagina scene and the neck-humping scene, half the room cleared, ah, and by the end only 3 dutiful fans remained. I’m flattered! Much hanging out with Jack Ketchum was done, and a teensy bit of alcohol was consumed. I’ll reiterate past praises by saying that the food in Wroclaw Poland is SO GOOD and so much BETTER than American fare, serious. Better basic ingredients, better meat, produce, etc. Even the friggin McDonald’s is good, and the Pizza Hut and KFC. It’s almost bizarre! I had a lot of chicken livers too (Poland is big on liver) and at one restaurant I reveled in foi gras unlike any I’ve ever had. I wouold’ve gained a ton of weight were it not for the necessity to walk MILES every day. Stayed in a cool hotel with a Mann’s Chinese Theater type look, called Lothus. It was built in 1903, then was a “mob” hotel in the 90's. Great place, great food, wonderful Ukranian barmaids, and Pilsner Urquell on tap. In all Wroclaw Poland is my favorite city that I’ve ever been to. Only bummer was catching an ass-kicking cold or flu on my last day or so but them’s the breaks. On way back I had a 12 hour layover in Copenhagen Airport which turned out great cuz they had a smoking cage, Tuborg on tap, and vending machines that dispensed smoked salmon and small tins of caviar. Cool. Might return to Wroclaw for a week just before Christmas. But now I’m back and back to work on White Trash Gothic! Thanks for your support! Best Edward Lee |

Thanks for the update Lee. Sorry to hear you got sick. Makes traveling a lot worse. Glad to hear Bighead got a great response but surprised to hear of the lack of response in the WALKING WOMAN. Glad to hear there were some true Lee fans that appreciated it. Still thinking about attending one of these conferences at some point, but never do because I would be by myself and feel like a creeper. Heh. Thanks for the updates. Look forward to White Trash Gothic. |

Glad you had a good time Ed. The Walking Woman is maybe not what people are expecting because it is very artsy and fucked up but a different kind of fucked up in the traditional sense of the art cinema. Multiple scenes of gore and nudity and weird effects have been done but not like in The Walking Woman. Maybe shooting it on a very low budget is part of the charm. I still don't know what to think about it. Who knows, it might be this generations Blood Feast on acid. I bought the dvd and have watched it about 15 times and I always get something new out of it. Can't wait for your new movie as well as White Trash Gothic. Wish my wife and I could go to Poland but I guess we'll settle for hitting Red Lobster and I will try the oysters. Cheers! |
