Post subject: | For Writers, and a Dead Cat holiday reminder |
For any writers out there, my monthly contribution to the storytellersunplugged blog (www.storytellersunplugged.com), “The Vision Thing,” talks about a writer's, well, vision. Check it out, as well as all the other contributors discussing the craft and art of writing every month, and please feel free to leave comments. On Writing Horror is a 260-page collection of advice on the craft and art of writing (again) from such masters of the horror genre as Stephen King, Harlan Ellison, Jack Ketchum and David Morrell, as well as other HWA members. Edited by Mort Castle, the book is an official Horror Writers Association and packed with what every horror, dark fantasy, suspense genre writer should know. You can check out the amazing table of contents at http://shocklines.stores.yahoo.net/onwrhohareed.html While you're at Shocklines, don't forget to do a little holiday shopping — horror is truly the gift that keeps on giving – and check out the latest offerings, especially their New Releases, or Bestsellers, or just hit the Browse by Author button and search for your loved one's favorite. Of course, you could also check out my page http://shocklines.stores.yahoo.net/gerardhouarner.html where you might find a certain Dead Cat's Traveling Circus of Wonders and Miracle Medicine Show (http://shocklines.stores.yahoo.net/decattrciofw1.html ), edited by myself and GAK, featuring an all-star cast of writers including Tim Lebbon, Gary A Braunbeck, Brian Hodge, Jeffrey Thomas, Linda D. Addison, Gerard (myownself) Houarner, Trey R. Barker, Jack Haringa, Michael T. Huyck, Jr. Garrett Peck, P.D.Cacek, Michelle Scalise, Robert Rhine, Mark McLaughlin, Wrath James White, Aaron Worley. There's also more GAK art than you'd think could be crammed into a single book, including endpapers – for a sample, visit GAK's Dead Cat page ( http://www.gakart.com/mainframeset.html ). Alan M. Clark, Erik Wilson and Chad Savage also contributed art to the project. Still a Guaranteed Good Read (money-back) with a bonus chapbook, signed by all contributors. Here's a review: http://www.epinions.com/content_242235838084 What are you waiting for? Dead Cat's back, go get him and spread the holiday cheer! Speaking of Dead Cat, I found this review (http://www.geocities.com/craigsbookclub ... tpoet.html ) of The Dead Cat Poet Cabal, a promotional chapbook/poetry collection published for the 2005 World Horror Convention. I've seen copies for sale here and there, but the piece has not been collected or widely distributed. The review should give you another taste of Dead Cat! |
