Creepiest legends.

That's a good one about the train.

I always kind of enjoy having some cryptic phrase or message at the end, it seems to add a little punch.
I have seen some of those but it has been so long I didn't remember them. I got that legend off of a daily calender I have on my desk that is all about urban legends and weird things.

I hope it is! I'm leery about picking movies for it though. It seems like a lot of recent ones I've watched are just straight out disappointing.

But I'll check into The Legend of Hell House and see if anyone has that out to rent. I did find out that they do have that Camp one...muahahah so that's on the list! A few more movie choices and some snacks including corpse cake...and we'll be set to go.

Creepy UL of the week:

This one was said to happen at Fine Women's Wear at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. Neiman's has a very lenient return policy and as a result wealthy women sometimes put $10,000 dresses on their charge accounts, wear them once and then return them to the store.

The legend tells of a woman who returned a very expensive dress. The dress was later purchased by a second woman who broke out in a rash while wearing it. When she went to the doctor, she was treated for formaldehyde burns. This woman of course sued Neiman's.

It turns out that the first woman who took the dress had bought it because her mother wanted to be buried in that dress. The dead mother had the dress during the funeral service but later the daughter thought it was a waste to bury the mother in such an expensive outfit and so got it back from the mortician.

The second woman had been exposed to formaldehyde that transfered to the fabric from the dead body.

That's creepy.

I've heard of another one involving a dress. I'm doing this from memory...so it might be a wee off. The gist of it is, there were two sisters. One was to be wed and the second was jealous of that - particularly because she was in love with the groom too. The bride chose her dress and had everything set for her big day. The jealous sister killed the bride. I forgot how the interim played out, but in the end, the jealous sister ended up becoming the bride to the same groom. She wore the gown her dead sister had planned to wear. During the wedding, she was attacked by bees and died from an allergic reaction to the stings.

Have you ever read the classic short story, The Romance of Certain Old Clothes (I think that's what it was called). It has to do with a jealous sister killing the other so she could move in and marry her beau and the ghostly revenge of her her slain sister when she opens her trunk of old clothes. It's actually pretty good despite my feeble attempts to sum it up.
