Mark, It's all good, man. I do have to say this, however. Yes, that's right, I'm about to speak my mind in the upmost scandalous ways. Something is up with dave's voice. I don't know if it's his phone connection, if he has a peice of crap cell phone, but on several POH episodes, I have the volume all the way up on my iPod, and I still can't make out what he's saying. Something deep inside of me says its more than an enuciation (probably misspelled) issue. This isn't you, and it isn't Scott Bradley, either. It's mostly Dave, as well as, sometimes, Nanci. Oh, and interviews too, but that's really as much as Dave and sometimes Nanci. By the way, love witty banter punctuated with cheap radio SFX. That's just gold, man, just gold. |

Boy, this will be hard because I really love the show as a whole but I will do my best. 1- The Interviews- I love hearing what inspires horror writers to create their fiction and how they go about their craft. One thing I kind of miss from the old horror reader interviews are the list of 10 questions that the host would ask each guest. This is by no means a knock because I love the interviews. 2-Tomb of Trivia- So I haven't got a single one yet but I still look forward to this part of each episode. I can't explain why I like it so much, I just do. 3- Dave's Poop- It's always good to hear what sort of new stuff is coming out in my favorite genre. 4-Your Witty Banter- Your personalities are a key element to the show. 5-Scott Bradley's Reviews- This might be a little higher but so far the books he has reveiwed were not ones that I was overly interested in. That I realize is just personal tast on my part. I liked him answering the challenge to give the E-mailer a reason to try out a certain writer recently and may E-mail him with a question myself soon. 6- Grim Rictus No offense Dave... er I mean Grimmy, but something has to be the last one on the list and I tend to like the stuff with more substance and less of the comical tint. I still always listen and do find it amusing but I generally pick scary and informative over humorous stuff in any situation. This is my longest post ever, I think. Sorry about that but I hope it helps. I love your podcast and can't wait to hear the next one (when is it coming out by the way?). It wasn't listed as a choice but I really enjoyed Mark doing a live reading of one of his stories on the show and would like to hear some more works of short fiction read. Maybe you guys could do a competition by your listeners, have them send you some stories that they wrote and read the top three or so on a special edition of POH. That would be cool! Thanks again for the awesome podcast!

Great response, Matt. I appreciate the input. We're not looking to drop anything from the show, but it's good to know what you like. I would like to have more writers record their own stories and send them to us. It's a perfect feature for a podcast. The next show debuts in a day or so, officially 1/15/07, but it usually sneaks in a few hours early. |

Yeah, sorry about that but he is my favorite writer of all time. His short story anthology, Alone with the Horrors, is choke full of the favorite stories that I have ever read. Stories like, Down There, The Brood, The Voice of the Beach, Heading Home,The Chimney,Mackintosh Willy,The Ferries, Again (man this one was sick though), Just Waiting and The Other Side are all collected in this volume (among other good ones) and they are all starkly original. In other books are Worse Than Bones and The Inhabitant of the Lake. Not to mention his great novels like The Midnight Sun, Ancient Images, The Darkest Part of the Forest and Incarnate. The man is a genius, pure and simple.
