I think we're going to the store for a few things around the house, later to church (we have a Saturday evening service for those who would like to sleep in on Sundays). I hope to work on editing my story some more that I'm going to try and submit for publication. This is kind of why I don't hardly ever submit anything, once I finish writing it, I sort of freeze up and start worrying about it not being ready or good enough when it comes time to send it out. ![]() |

Matt: Make it as good as you reasonably can, then send it out. You can't revise forever, as tempting as that can be. If you're lucky, you'll get some editorial feedback. Meanwhile, keep writing. Keep reading. Break down the fiction you like (and don't like). Note what works (and doesn't). You'll get better, in increments. If that story gets rejected, read it with the eyes of an improved writer. Can you make it better? Revise it, if needed. Or maybe it's fine the way it is, and the editor just didn't like it for some reason. Then send it somewhere else. Repeat until you've placed it. |

I'm going to have my wife do a good hard edit for me one more time. She is much better at grammer than I am. Then I'll try and zero in on who to send it to. I like Dark Discoveries but I feel that it is probably very difficult to get published there, by the people that they have published so far. I think I might be hedging towards New Genre. I've never heard of them before, but they seem interesting in their Ralan guidelines. The wait time for response seems like it will be excrutiating (this word is most likely spelled incorrectly). |

Matt, I'm certainly no expert on this, but I'd suggest sending it to DD anyway. If they reject it, then send it to a smaller place. I'd start higher and work my way down until I found a home for it. Just my 1.9 cents. |

I haven't heard of Clarkesworld. They must not have been listed where I was looking. How do you guys stand the long wait time to hear if you've been accepted or not? I think it will drive me batty to wait so long for something that is probabley a long shot anyway (not that I don't like my story. I do. It's just I've heard how difficult it is to get published so I don't want to get my hopes up to high). |

It was a good trip to the comics book store: The Essential Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider Team-Ups trade paperback and a new edition of Harlan Ellison's novel Spider Kiss. Among the comics I've enjoyed so far are Midnighter #4, The New Avengers #27 and 52 Week Forty. I'm also reading a Spider pulp reprint to get me juked up for my current writing project. Speaking of which, I did 3000 words today. I'm pretty pleased with that. Let's see if I can repeat it tomorrow. |
