Creepy. I had my wife read about it. It reminds you how close an eye you have to keep on your kids at all times. |

You make a great point, Rich. I was looking at it from an intelligence point of view, not one of chemical balance or mental state. I was operating under the assumption he was a "bad man," not potentially a "sick man." I should have known better. Now that I've had a few days to let it all sink in, I think it's pretty obvious the guy doesn't perceive things the same way most others do. This isn't the way an "evil" person would operate. Thanks for the input. |

It's scary that these things do actually happen. For years I've been very interested in urban legends and child abduction is a big category, retelling the same story in different versions: children being taken in the bathrooms of gas stations, shopping malls, movie theaters, etc. It's easy to recognize these since the wording seems to be very similar every time they are told (the children in these tales are usually drugged, their hair is dyed another color and their clothes are changed for those of the opposite gender, then the child is carried away as if sleeping), and I am particularly quick at shedding some sense on them and providing a link proving the tale is an UL. The fact that you actually saw this happen (and that it didn't happen to the proverbial "friend of a friend") shows that these legends don't just come out of the blue, there's some truth behind all this and you were a witness to it. I'm glad the man was caught and the girl saved. It really is a scary world out there. Cesar |
