Post subject: | The Weekend |
So far it's been one of those weekends where real life intrudes. We did watch The Prestige, which was great. And I got in a trip to a couple of used bookstore. I picked up two Doc Savage paperbacks (I have them all, but they make good trades or I use them to introduce friends to the series), a Jason Striker: Master of the Martial Arts novel by Piers Anthony and Roberto Fuentes (I read this series back in the mid-70s in the midst of my kung fu obsession; I wanted to see if it held up), and a G-8 pulp reprint which I already have, but I couldn't pass up that cover, one of my favorites Steranko did for the series. ![]() |

Worked out on the treadmill. Watched THE DEPARTED (7.5 out of 10) Fucked around on the Internet. Loaded music from CD to computer. A massive project. Fell on the ice and hit my head. (I'm okay.) |

Well, I didn't have alot of sucess with the stuff I tried to do this weekend. First off, I finally got my cover letter ready for my short story and took the big step of submitting it to Flesh and Blood magazine. I got an E-mail back almost immediately, saying that they have suspended publications. Rejected before anyone has even read it yet. That's a bad sign, I think. ![]() Then, a freind of mine and I went to a local comic book convention, only to find out that it was cancelled due to a water leak in the roof of the building where it was to be held. ![]() I go on call for the water company starting Monday morning, which will force me to stay close to home for the upcoming week. So all in all a pretty unproductive weekend. ![]() |

Hey, Dave, sorry about the head, man. Can you talk to ghosts now or hear the thoughts of others? ![]() Ken, it hasn't been that bad. Had to make a funeral visitation, which was unexpected and sad, then learned a good friend may be seriously ill. But I'm trying hard to work on a short story and salvage something from the weekend. It could be worse. At least I'm not involved in that junior high bullshit going on at the other message boards this weekend. ![]() |

Hey Dave, if a bald man named Locke comes up to you, says that he was trapped on a strange island for awhile after his plane crashed, don't let him put any of the weird paste he made on your head wound. It causes hallucinations. ![]() |

I actually wrote this and then erased it, but here goes (thanks matt!). . . Dave, you start seeing Robert Blake dressed in black without eyebrows, or a dancing little person dressed in red suit, be very, very afraid...you've slipped into the universe david lynch normally occupies, and that's a dangerous place ![]() |

Rich: Try this link http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_ ... tton1.y=15 Stay with it, and you'll find some used Doc Savages that are not very pricey. |
