It is just too slow around here. So I'll see if we can't get something going. How about favorite horror movies (theatrical release or otherwise). 1- The Legend of Hell House 2- The Ring 3- It (Stephen King) 4- Rose Red (Stephen King) 5- The Mothman Prophecies 6- In the Mouth of Madness 7- Haunted (this stared Aidan Quinn and Kate Beckinsdale and was based off of a great novel by James Herbet by the same name.) 8-The Storm of the Century (Stephen King) 9- The Sixth Sense 10- The Shinning TV miniseries (Stephen King. I liked the miniseries alot better than the original movie) Several of these were TV miniseries but I really enjoyed them. I'm curious what movies would make other's lists out there? |

Wow - this question is right up my alley, especially as it dovetails with a project that I'm currently working on (secret for now, but I'll keep you informed if there's anything worth telling). Anyway, here's mine - one note, however: These are my FAVORITES, not necessarily what I consider the BEST, although I would put almost all of these on a Best List as well... 1. THE EXORCIST (dir. William Friedkin; 1973) 2. THE SHINING (dir. Stanley Kubrick; 1980 3. DAWN OF THE DEAD (dir. George Romero; 1979) 4. ROSEMARY’S BABY (dir. Roman Polanski; 1968) 5. DEAD RINGERS (dir. David Cronenberg; 1988) 6. FAMILY PORTRAITS: A TRILOGY OF AMERICA (dir. Douglas Buck; 2004) 7. THE THING (dir. John Carpenter; 1982) 8. THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (dir. Tobe Hooper; 1974) 9. 28 DAYS LATER (dir. Danny Boyle, 2002) 10. SUSPIRIA (dir. Dario Argento; 1977) Cheers! SB |

I completely forgot about The Thing. That should definately be on my list. I don't own the DVD of it, so it escaped me. Awesome movie though! ![]() |

Hey Raven! Great to have you here on the Justice and Wilbanks forums! I have never seen the Cave and I'm not sure what it was about (other than a cave, I assume), so that's one I may have to look into. I'm glad to see that someone else liked Haunted. That was a great, straight to DVD movie that few people seem to have heard of. I loved the book too (as well as it's sequel, The Ghosts of Sleath). I was actually watching Red Rose on the Scifi channel the other night that inspired me to start this thread. ![]() |

Yeah, I don't like slasher movies either and have rarely even seen any of them. I actually don't watch any of the Friday the 13th or Halloween movies because they just don't look interesting enough to me. To me , there has to be a strong element of plot and mystery to keep me into it. |

Another movie that I was disappointed in was The Blair Witch Project. I know alot of people really liked this movie, and it may be that I had heard so much about it being the greatest horror movie ever made that I went in expecting too much, but I really didn't care for it. |

The part two of The Blair Witch Project was bad too. I liked the theory behind both of them but not the way they were made. I'm not sure if this is technically horror or not, but Open Water was terribly disappointing. |

Best/Favorites (no particular order): Jaws (I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet) Alien Halloween The Exorcist The Mothman Prophecies Signs (ducks from the flames sure to head his way, but I don't give a shit, I loved this movie) The Shining (The Kubrick version) The Invisible Man (The BEST of the Universal monsters...better than Franky or Dracula) Saw (The ending just blew me away) Shaun of the Dead (not really a horror movie, so I didn't put it in the main 10, but it's a zombie movie, and absolutely brilliant, so I figured I'd put it in) Best/Favorite BAD Horror movies (no particular order): Attack of the Killer Tomatoes The Killer Shrews Night of the Lepus Zombie (a.k.a. Zombie 2...not sure how this happened) The Creeping Terror (When the hell are they going to release this on DVD???) Them Flesh Eating Mothers (has there EVER been a movie with such rotten acting at this?) Freaks Frogs (starring Sam Elliot and a very young & VERY hot Joan van Ark) The Legend of Boggy Creek (I just can't get enough of this movie...it scared the crap out of me when I was a kid) Worst/Least Favorite (no particular order): Fear[dot]com (holy shit, did this movie suck balls) The Wicker Man (the original...I didn't make it past the stupid naked chick with the ugly boobs singing the stupid song) Carnival of Souls (the Roger Corman movie...what a boring pile of crap) Empire of the Ants Bats Pet Cemetery (liked it until I read the book...this movie should have never been made) Blair Witch 2 - Aside from the rotten camera work, I kind of liked the first one...but this one was pure crap Jeepers Creepers 2 Scream |

I think I'll have to go back and watch The Prince of Darkness. I know I saw it, but it has been so many years ago that I can't remember what it was about. I only have a vague memory of someone walking through a mirror or something (I think it was that movie). I'm really intrigued now and am going to have to track it down soon. I watched Donny Darko last night for the first time. It probably wouldn't be considered horror, per say, but it did have some creepy parts in it. I liked it. Although it never came out and told you exactly what was going on, I think I got the jist of what happened. Good movie. ![]() |

Kreep - ha! Yeah it was! Now I'm going to have to hunt it down and watch it again too. I think I recall a mirror scene in it too. I'll put Donny Darko on my To See list too. The cover looks really interesting but I wasn't quite sure what the story really was. |
