If two filmmakers sat down and said, "Let's make a movie for Mark", it would look like this. At least from the clips I've seen. I can't wait. |

I hate to be the only one who disagrees, but in this case, I fear it is so. I can't stand Quinton Terintino (I don't even know how to spell his name). If his name is attached to something, I automatically dismiss it out of hand. I've seen part of Pulp Fiction (and found myself having to fast forward through most of it), and the first From Dusk to Dawn. I hated both of them, and the interviews I have seen with him also turns my stomache (he's just too much of a spaziod for me). I'm sorry, I know most people love him, but I am not in that camp.[/i] |

I like most of his films especially Reservoir Dogs and From Dusk til Dawn. However... First let me put up the shields to deflect the pointy objects that are likely to be hurled this way... Ok, ready. I hated...hated...Pulp Fiction with a passion. I think it could have been a great film had he not gotten so jiggy with plot line. I'm going to go hide now. |

Tarantino's dialogue has be delivered by the right actors. Can you imagine anybody other than the great Samuel L. Jackson doing Jules in Pulp Fiction? I can't. And everytime I try -- Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Wesley Snipes, etc. it would probably sound frickin retarded. The same with travolta.... Taratino's films are just as chatty as they are violent. Half of the film are homages to somenody else, and I actually think Rodriquez is the more imaginative of the two film makers, and DARN IT!, I forgive him for the atrocity known as Spy Kids. Sin City more than makes up spate of bad films. So, as somebody who gets paid to write movie reviews, that's my two cents. (Which means, yes, I want to see grindhouse) |

Thanks, Mark. I was wondering what they were talking about. |

Matt, Tarantino is mostly behind the camera and script, with the exception of an occasional cameo. And thankfully, that's a good thing. He can't act worth a damn. |

I didn't mind the way he constructed the movie. That was pretty cool. I just didn't like the story. I hate Uma Thurman (yes, I think she's cute when she's not "crack whore skinny"; I still can't stand her). And I really fucking hated that piece where (I think it was Uma) made that "square" symbol with her fingers and the dotted line effect came in with the sound effect. That was completely random, completely unlike any other effect in the rest of the movie, completely out of place, and completely stupid. It really detracted from the movie and made me feel like the makers of the movie didn't quite take it seriously. I want my movies to be an escape. That one single effect pulled me right out of the movie and put me squarely back in my seat at the theater. It sucked. I love John Travolta, but that's it. Samuel L. Jackson is okay, I can take him or leave him. |

As I recall, when my freind and I rented Pulp fiction years ago, we got bored with it pretty quick. We ended up fast forwarding through more than half of it. We did watch all of the scenes with Travolta and Jackson though. I guess those parts weren't too bad. |

The irony of the square thing was that it was really a rectangle on the screen. Anyhow, we I guess we'll agree to disagree. As I side earlier, tarantino is a bit heavy on dialogue. I know that's a little off putting to some, especially when the dialogue can seem to be banal to some. Oh well. For the record, I'm not a huge tarrantino fan. I largely skipped Jackie Brown all together. And I would have done so with both Kill Bills. |
