I've seen the previews for it and still can't quite tell if it will be something I will like or not. It looks like it may have potential but I'll have to read some reviews of it before I fork over the cash to see it.

Just returned from watching this one and I must say, I really liked it. It was suspenseful and the special fx were amazing (specially the locusts and the lice). I'm usually wary of religious themed films lest the religion part overshadows the plot, but I think this movie did a good job. In the end this is a basically thriller --don't go to see it expecting to come out with a new vision of Christianity-- but, I believe, a truly enjoyable one.

Yeah, that's partially why I was unsure if I wanted to see it or not. I am a Christian, and although I am not easily offended or anything, I don't really enjoy movies that attack my religous belifes. I enjoy horror a great deal, which I'm sure is obvious, and am willing to basically ignore many things in the stories and movies I like, but movies like the recent Tom Hanks one that went after the Bible and Christianity (I forget its title) are ones that I will choose to avoid. I couldn't really tell from the previews to The Reaping if it was that sort of movie or not.

The DaVinci Code?

Actually as I was watching The Reaping I kept thinking of it as a 21st Century "The Omen" which is a movie I've always liked (I enjoyed the remake too, though I never thought a remake was needed). On the other hand, a couple of religious movies I didn't quite enjoy were "Stigmata" and parts 2 and 4 of "The Exorcist".
