It's been slow around here. . . Okay. Here's one to have at: Name a movie that was as good or better than the horror novel/story that inspired it.... Here are two off the top of my head: The Shining-- King hates the Jack Nicholson version, but then again, that version is a great, great movie! It's one of the few horror films that still scares me ... especially the dude in Bear outfit at the end WTF? Hellraiser 1 & 2 Goes way far beyond Barker's "The Hellbound Heart" novella. |

I must say I'm one of those who didn't like the movie, but liked the miniseries instead. I truly can't think of any horror movie that's surpassed it's source. Will give it a thought. Cesar |

I haven't read the novel of any of those and in regards to Jaws, I neither seen the movie or read the novel (I'm just not into sharks). I can imagine that there has to be some movies out there that are better than the novels, just not very many, would be my guess. Even The Haunted movie I listed above isn't as good as the novel, although I liked the movie very much. |

I don't think the Kubrick version "is better" but to me, it's still a damn good movie. It's like Blade Runner --- wonderful film, but I wouldn't want to compare to Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep, becuase there's no comparison. Both are just great. That's how I feel about the shining. Book is better, but the Kubrick version is wonderful too. |
