Post subject: | Horror Geocache Name? |
My family has picked another location to place a geocache. For those of you who don't know, geocaching involves hiding an ammo-box or something like it in a park or other somewhat secluded location, posting the GPS coordinates on the Geocaching website (with permission from the landowners where it is placed that is), and then people use their hand held GPS units to go and find it. The Ammo-boxs are filled with little trinkets such as dice, heroclix, decorative pins, what have you that will fit within. When the cache is found that person swaps out an item from the 'loot' for some trinket they they brought with them. Okay, so here is where I need some help. I want to make my geocache a horror based one. I don't think that there are many with such a theme to them. I have chosen a tree that stands about 6 feet tall and is hollow at about 4 feet up to place my ammo box filled with comic books (In a waterproof bag, horror based heroclix, dice, monster finger puppets, and so on and so forth. I need a good name for the cache. I'd like to encorporate the tree somehow with out being too obvious. Any suggestions? |

Hey I just thought I should try and put something in it to alert people about POH. I bet that could be a first, to have some sort of promotional thing for a podcast in a Geocache! They've done geocache promotions for movies before (the most recent version of Planet of the Apes actually place their own geocaches in select locations filled with promotional materials). For those interested, here is the website for geocaching info: |

I've considered trying to use one of the Lovecarftian monsters as a name. The creatures in Robert Bloch's great short story, Notebook Found in an Abandoned House lookied somewhat like trees. They were called The Dark Young though and I don't think people would make the connection. Where as if it was something like Dagon or Nyarathotep, there would be no doubt as to where the name came from. As far as I can tell they didn't look vaguely like trees though so they don't work. |
