I've just been low on ideas as to what to post about. I've also been writing a lot more lately. ![]() ![]() |

I was just checking stats from last year and we're actually up on posts as compared to last year. I guess it's the summertime and who wants to be inside posting when you can be outside hanging ![]() ![]() |

I've been tied up with a problem at work, but that seems to be resolved. So what did I miss? ![]() |

Thanks guys. I just get a little snippity, because my job doesn't want me back in september. You see, like mental illness, nobody takes sleep disorders seriously. I knew a woman back in my MFA program that had narcolepsy, and everybody, myself included, really didn't take that seriously. Like, "Oh, how nice, you have an excuse to fall asleep in front of people, I wish I had that." No, I never said that to her, but a lot of my classmates did. Anyway, since I was non-permanent part time help, without union representation, somepeople are being a little too unforgiving about all the times, spring semester, I fell asleep on the job, in front of the students I was tutoring. Which, around April became a lot and often. That's also the time I really started falling asleep while driving and nearly got into two car wrecks. Anyhow, my problem with finding a job is basically being over-educated. I have three college degrees, two of which are graduate level. So, sometimes I can't even get warehouse or service work, because they're like, why should we hire you? You'll just find a better job and leave. And that's my catch 22. I have an MA in education, but no teaching certificate... I could go on, and on. But I should focus on the positive. My writing has been getting better since the surgery. I'm not exhausted all the time, I'm drinking less, and I considered winning the Rhysling this year as the cosmos telling me to get much more serious about writing and submitting stuff. I'm going on and on. I'll just say here, once again, thanks you guys for the well wishing. I do apreciate it. |

Rich. Since you have a medical condition, you could always bring in a note from your doctor and hint that if they don't have a viable reason to fire you.... Just a thought anyway. Good luck finding a full-time teaching gig. |

I was diagnosed with narcolepsy back in '99, so I know what it's like having to explain to people, in and out of work, not to take it personally (or take it to HR). |
