So here I am after two weeks of vacation getting ready to go back to work. I feel like a kid before the first day of school.

My wife bought a new alarm clock/radio for me yesterday. It includes a dock for my i-pod as well as a gizmo that projects the time on the ceiling. So of course I'll be awake all night wondering if the new alarm will work.

Norma is making chili tonight, which will make Monday very enjoyable for my coworkers.

So what are you cool cats doing?

Preparing my class for tomorrow and trying to find out how I'm going to get there without spending my whole pay in taxi fares. Got to get up at 5am tomorrow so need to go to bed early tonight.

If I have time I want to read a little. I'm in the middle of HorrorWeen by Al Sarrantonio and enjoying it a lot

I just got back from church and plan to do some writing today. I think I'm going to finally start on a new story. I've been putting a lot of time rewriting and editing a story that I plan to submit to Dead Letter Press and haven't been able to start on a new one for awhile. The one that I've been working on is close to being done and now I'm just waiting to get some feedback from my writing group, maybe make some changes after that and do one to two more edits afterwards and hopefully be able to send it out. I've done about 10-12 edits and rewrites on it already but I do think that it has become a little better and smother after each one.

Mostly stuff around the house. I have to change the faucet in one of the the bathroom sinks, replace a doorknob on the garage which requires me to drill a new hole (which I should have done like 7 months ago), and I need to scrub out the cat's litter box.

If anyone remembers, I'm tearing apart the pool/playground that is my backyard so I can plant a real lawn this fall. Yesterday, I knocked down 6 panels of a privacy fence and cut it up. The deer like the easy access to our yard now. So if I have time, I'll probably try to get to Lowe's before they close to get some "Deer be Gone" so they stay the hell out of my yard (bastards keep eating our plants and crapping in the yard).

I was at Thrillerfest all weekend. Now I'm back to work

It depends on the convention and where it is held.

Thrillerfest was $$$$$. I got in on a Press Pass but I believe that the full weekend "package" which included workshops, etc. was well over $700 and the rooms at the Hyatt were expensive. Hell, NYC is expensive!!

HF was (I think) $40 for the weekend pass and the rooms were a bit over $100 a night. It's only a 3 hour drive for me.

WHC next year will be iffy. The membership is over $100 per person, the flight will be close to $750 (for both). I'm not sure what the hotel will cost.

The smaller cons can be really great, like Rock and Shock in Mass. The have a terrific line-up and are quite affordable.
