So if you won the big shebang gift certificate like Mat Cowan did as announced in the last POH, what would you spend it on?

I'm eying a few authors I've yet to read. But, then there are some Ed Lee books I've been wanting and there is the fact that I can’t ever find a copy of the magazine anywhere.

Well, I'm just not a huge risk taker by nature. I never make a bet with anyone for more than a dollar, unless I'm just positive of the results (which is virtually never). I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to spend it on yet, but I'm eyeing the Ramsey Campbell, Grin of the Dark signed copy. It is an advance order, but I'm salivating over getting it. It sounds similar to my favorite Campbell novel, Ancient Images.

I just ordered Ramsey Campbell's Grin of the Dark signed edition with my gift certificate from POH. I just wish I knew when it was going to be released. It only cost me ten buc's thanks to these guys (it would have been $35 otherwise with shipping). I don't have a signed copy of any other book (other than comicbooks that is), so this is very cool, especially since it's my favorite writer! Thanks POH!

I will try some new stuff, as long as the story sounds interesting. I'm going to contradict my previous post now, but when I think about it don't tend buy every book by any one author. I've read more Ramsey Campbell book's than anyone else's, but that is still only five books. I guess I go more for what the book is about rather than anything else. If it's about a haunted house or forest, I have a hard time resisting. I do a lot of my book shopping at our local half-price book store though, so I'm still not normally taking a huge risk (I do plan to pick up your book by the way, it may not be on the opening week, but it will depend on my finances at the time).

I can't resist haunted fiction either or true ghost stories or undead tales. It's the same with movies - if there are ghosts or the undead in it I'm all there.

Creature fiction is really neat too - werewolves, demons and the like.

I was disappointed in it but I watched it thinking it was a horror movie because that's what they labeled it as.

As a character development film I think it was good. I liked the setting, the characters and the idea.

However if I had to review it as a horror film I'd flunk it in all catagories except character. To me horror has to do at least one of several things - unnerve, unsettle, creep, send shivers, scare, frighten, terrify etc. The movie Windigo didn't do any of those for me.

Grin of the Dark is great so far, and has been a very concise, fast read up to this point. I find it hard to put down for certain. It is different than many of his other novels, there is less discription and it is written in the first person point of view but I am riveted thus far!

I just finished The Grin of the Dark and enjoyed it very much. It had some of the strangest and most eerie momments that I have ever read within. There is a good bit that takes place on a message board, believe it or not, and it is very interesting. It has to do with a know-it-all antagonist named, Smilemime, who causes all kinds of problems for the main character while staying hidden behind his screen name. The whole book is good, although my favorite Campbell book remaines, Incarnate, this one isn't far behind. Thanks again to POH for helping me to get it through the E-Mail contest!
