I would like to say that I'm blessed with one of the coolest mother-in-laws on the planet. My father-in-law, however, is a little crazy however, so much so that medication is involved. That said, visiting them is always a trauma, because I want to be on my best behavior. I guess that's usual. But I'm deathly afraid of one thing.

My wife, her parents, and me are slated to spend a day in New York City. I love NYC. It's one of the most strangest places on the planet, but I'm not sure I can handle the intensity of The Big Apple with my father in law. You see, he's from West Virginia, and that I don't have a problem with. However, he's been known, last time he was in Jersey (Atlantic City, to be exact), to approach everybody and announce his Appllachian heritage to the world. "Excuse me. I may look dumb to you on the accounts that I look like a country type, but can you tell me where I can find Donald Trump?"

This is a guy that my wife and I once took to a Vietnamese eatery, in North Carolina, and he tried chatting up the waitress with "Excuse me? Ma'am? Do you know I guy named Trinh in Saigon? Met him when I served in the 'Nam."

So, imagine going with that sort of guy to NYC, where you DON'T chat up people you don't know...not on the subway, the street, in line to get broadway tickets, or just in general.
